Get the MO to GO!
Is your organization slowing down? Or is it the market slowing your organization down? Or Are you as the owner/CEO slowing your organization down? , whichever way you look at it, you as the leader of the organization will be responsible for the speed of growth of your organization. The growth of your organization is based on one important aspect and we will call it MO.
The Law of Big MO is one of the 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership by John C Maxwell which says that “Momentum is a Leader’s best friend”. Momentum is the strength or force that something has when it is moving, this strength or force allows something to continue to grow stronger or faster as time passes. The important aspect here is that momentum arises when something is moving.
All startup organizations follow a pattern, they bring in a new idea, product or solution that gets them moving. This movement helps the organization in establishing its identity in the corporate world, this continues as long as the product, solution or service maintains this movement and helps the organization grow. Once the innovativeness of the product or solution is lost, the movement slows and the organization fades away. Now when a startup organization adds momentum to this movement, it makes them stronger and grow faster. In case you would take a closer look at Google, Apple and Facebook you will be able to see this story unfold. So where the does an organization gets its momentum from?
An organization gets its MO from her leader, a leader who constantly re- innovates the organization through process, products, solutions or services that creates the momentum to keep the organization moving and growing. When the momentum is built, it is natural that followers grow on this momentum creating new movements and new momentum within the organization. Eventually this momentum also affects the marketplace, pushing other organizations and finally getting the economy to move again. We have all seen this cycle and it all started with a leader who had a movement backed by momentum.
So if you are a leader in your organization or a leader in your team, ask yourself, do we have momentum? Go a step further and ask yourself, do I have momentum? “Momentum is Leader’s best friend”, so as a leader, find that momentum and be contagious in spreading it. GET THE MO TO GO!!!
