The Partner Coach
Every individual has weaknesses and strengths and the ability for an individual to grow will be when he improves his strengths and converts his weaknesses to strength or finds a team of people who can cover his weaknesses. This approach is also applicable to partners, all partners have strengths and weaknesses and if they are aware of the same, they will work on improving their strengths and build a team to convert their weaknesses to strengths. The concern here is who would show a partner his true state of affairs, who could be transparent enough to step in and tell the partner that this is where the problem lies.
Enter the Partner Coach, an individual who has built trust with the partner, who wants to see growth in the partner organization and at the same time remove obstacles that will affect their growth. The Partner Coach is aware of the partner's journey so far and asks the right questions which helps the partner find in them and through their organization what they really want. There are three questions that a Partner Coach should focus on in every discussion - :
Where are you now? - this question directs the partner to think on his present business position , his success and what drives his success, also if directed in the right way , it will help him see the failures and look at them deeper, helping them create plans to avoid future pitfalls.
Where are you going? - A question that directs the partner to thoughts of future success, it is important that partners are able to see success and victory through this question. The Partner Coach should enable the partner to see, feel and think success and understand what strategies and solutions will take them there.
How are you going there? - A “how” question also opens the doors for ideas and this is the intention of asking the partner this question. The partner should be able to create, from his perspective the roadmap that will enable him to reach his goal. This can be approached through brainstorming, design thinking or mind mapping but what is important is that the partner creates a plan that comes from his viewpoint and not pushed by others. The above questions can be asked in different ways but the intention of the Partner Coach is to enable partners to look within and look around enabling them to find their own answers and leading them to more success. A Partner Coach should be a person who touches a heart before asking for a hand.
